Depression And Anxiety Research
Due to my plot being inspired by the effects of both depression and anxiety, I felt it was important to research into the both in more detail in order to portray these correctly and ensure that I understand the affects it can have on younger people.
Losing a loved one can often trigger intense feelings of grief. This can therefore lead to depression or making already underlying depression worse. Depression can make it difficult for people to think of anything else but the loss of a loved one and making it difficult accepting that their loved one is gone. In my film, I personally wanted to focus on these two symptoms which link to the character I am creating for my piece. The effect that this causes my character is slightly dissimilar, however it is not unknown for people to imagine that these loved ones are still alive. People who suffer depression also often find the ability to function as normal difficult.
Anxiety is a feeling of unease, such as worry or fear, that can be mild or severe. Often, this affects people’s daily lives as they find it hard going about their day or do the things they enjoy. These feelings usually last for a long time if it's severe.
An example of this is shown through an animation ‘inside out’ although this is a children’s example, it clearly shows the stages of both anxiety and depression.
