Editing
The layout of adobe was originally very confusing to me due to being new to the set however once playing around, it became easier to navigate and I managed to set up an overall layout.
All clips I inserted were placed in the V1 timeline which showed all the clips in one sequence which made it easier to edit. Originally the spacing on the clips were smaller so you could see all of them at once, however I decided to make them bigger to see an image in order to make it easier when cutting any clips down during the entire process.
The box in left corner allowed me to pre-view my clips before entering them into the sequence. For the beginning clips I wanted to add an effect over the top, as you can see the two clips look different. In comparison, the right side has a grey tint which I was able to do through the use preview. As my chosen genre was drama, I also used longer clips in order to follow the codes and conventions.
The audio from the clips were already placed in the timeline with the visual, therefore this made it alot easier when editing the entire short film. As seen at the beginning on the film, I wanted a voice over, therefore I used the voice over tool to create audio over the visuals instead of the original sound. The sound that came with the clip was 'white noise' therefore I made sure when dragging over my desired length of the clip, I dragged the video only with the audio.
My film largely evolves around using music as a way to add emotion. Therefore I was able to add in my desired soundtrack and preview it the same way I did with the clips. I made sure to cut down the track to fit the desired clips before applying it to the timeline. Any clips that had audio and a soundtrack, I used both the A1 and A2 columns.
As well as music, sound effects were needed for the end scene. I chose them through youtube and downloaded the content through a converter online. Once this was saved in a file on my computer, similar to the music, I was able to insert the desired sound effect over the visuals I wanted.
When saving the video I had to convert the file into a 'WMV' in order to be able to upload it onto youtube. I did not do this the first time which became a problem. After this I was able to render my film.
