Editing

Image
The layout of adobe was originally very confusing to me due to being new to the set however once playing around, it became easier to navigate and I managed to set up an overall layout. All clips I inserted were placed in the V1 timeline which showed all the clips in one sequence which made it easier to edit. Originally the spacing on the clips were smaller so you could see all of them at once, however I decided to make them bigger to see an image in order to make it easier when cutting any clips down during the entire process.  The box in left corner allowed me to pre-view my clips before entering them into the sequence. For the beginning clips I wanted to add an effect over the top, as you can see the two clips look different. In comparison, the right side has a grey tint which I was able to do through the use preview. As my chosen genre was drama, I also used longer clips in order to follow the codes and conventions.  The audio from the clips were already placed

Problems faced when editing

I didn't have many problems when editing my video, however I did face a few minor problems. 1) The first problem was becoming familiar with the software. As I had not used adobe before It was hard to work out how to use the app. It took up alot of my time working out ways around my problems. Fortunately you tube was a huge help when constructing my product and made the process easier. The largest problem I faced with adobe was with the audio. The audio wasn't inserting into the timeline and became frustrating. After time figuring out how to fix it, I was able to insert the audio however this distracted me hugely from getting the editing done on time. 2)Rendering- The rendering of my short film took a very long time and crashed adobe twice before finally saving. This could be to do with the app or the computer I have been using throughout the process. I also originally saved the film under the incorrect file therefore it took up more time and due to it crashing multiple time

The beginning of editing.

Once the filming was completed I had to start importing the footage on top the laptop in order to begin the editing. I began by importing the footage off the SD card onto my laptop through the 'photos' app which uploaded everything into one folder which I could access at any time.  Before I began editing I also make sure to download any songs I wanted to save time later on in the process. Once all the files were in one secure place, I was able to insert them into adobe premier pro to begin putting them into sequence and editing all the clips together to create one video.

Storyboard

Image
When uploading my story boards I encountered problems with the photocopier. This took longer than expected however, after help from another student I was able to upload my sketches onto blogger.  Overall I completed 10 pages for my story board which illustrated each shot that I am planning to take during filming. I will be using this throughout to guide me and make the filming process easier. Although the majority of shots are shown, if during filming I experiment with the angles etc and find a preferred shot the plan will be changed which will be shown in my final piece.

Mental health film

Image
Over the last week a new short film has been released focusing on a mental health issue which relates to my own personal short film. The actress Denise Welch exclusively shared her short film and has already won awards for the piece she has created. She created this to portray her own experience with depression and has said to help break down stigma about mental health issues. It follows the story about her depression and is significantly represented by a younger figure in an all black costume.  The story plays on the idea that depression is an ongoing state of mind. When viewing the short film it highlighted certain aspects of what depression is like for people which I am able to include within my own short film focusing on mental health. It was interesting seeing the contrast of mental health being portrayed by an adult compared to the portrayal I will show of a teen/young adult, although it didn’t show much difference, It signified that mental health affects people in simila
