Magazine review page flat plans

Similar to my poster flat plans, I decided to play around with two different designs. When analysing existing review pages I came across two types of layouts by the institution ‘Newfilms’ Within my flat plans I tried to cater to both and see which one I prefered. The first one I planned out was a single page review which followed the conventions I researched. The plan is very similar to the new film layout I researched, however I believed this was an effective layout and would work within my own magazine. I chose to use two images within this article instead of one in order to give the audience more insight to the film. The screenshot used as the main focal image was to denotes more about the film and what's included. I also wanted to include the films poster to make it recognisable to an audience. I felt as if including it within both ancillary tasks it would illustrate that is an important part of marketing within the film industry. Both images had to be carefully thought about in order to entice the audience into actually watching the film after reading the review. In both of my flat plans I included a dedicated space for extra information such as director, starring and running time, all of which are important pieces of information for an audience member. I also included a ‘verdict’ box which the reader can read quickly if they did not have enough time to view the entire article. This area also includes the star rating. Both flat plans include at 4 columns of writing as this is average for reviews.

In the second flat plan, I prefer that more images are used and having a larger space to display them. The title may be slightly smaller than the one page review, however due to the bold writing this will still be visible for the audience. The overall design of the landscape review is slightly more complex however I believe this will be more effective.
